We all go through times when we find it difficult to maintain an optimistic attitude about life. We might not enjoy our job or we might be having a hard time with one of our family members but it is important that we learn how to keep a healthy and happy outlook on life.
There are many different things you can use to work on getting that optimism back into your life and once it is there, keeping it there.
Here are a few suggestions that I found on wikihow.com:
#1: No matter how sharp you are, or think you are, no one can remember everything. Instead of getting upset at yourself for not remembering something, get into the habit of writing things down.
#2: Find your talents. Do a little self exploration and learn if you love to paint or love to work with senior citizens. Once you have found something you enjoy doing and are good at, put that skill to work.
#3: Maintain a regular exercise program. Be creative and find something that works for you. If you enjoy it you will be much more likely to keep it up and the regular exercise will help relieve tension.
#4: Keep learning! Just because you have finished college doesn’t mean it is time to stop learning. Pick a topic that you’ve always wondered about and go to the library to find books on the topic. It could be something as small as how clouds are formed or something as big as how to build a car. Just pick something and learn!
#5: Treat yourself as well as you treat others. We all have a tendency to get down on ourselves for one reason or another. Just remember that if someone else is worth treating well, you should treat yourself the same way. If you give too much of yourself you won’t have anything left for you.
#6: Use your mind more than you use a calculator. With the increase in computer technology and the ease of using calculators we often let our brains forget how to do math and let machines do the work for us. Keep your mind nimble and try to do the work on your own.
#7: Find out what makes you happy and then do it. If you enjoy jogging every morning, make time for yourself to do that. When you find time in your day to do something that you love, you will be much happier.
