How to Improve Your Life in 2010

Last year US News did a series called 50 ways to improve your life in 2009. When I ran across this article I thought it was something I should share and I figured that they could all apply to 2010.

US News broke up the suggestions into five different categories so I will be focusing on one category each day for the next few blogs.

Today’s category is dealing with your money. Money is something that causes stress in most of our lives and so it is always great to get a few suggestions about how to improve our finances.

#1: Recycle Old Gadgets for Cash – If you are anything like I am, you have old cell phones or iPods laying around the house that you will never use again. You can actually turn these into money through various websites that you can find through web searches fairly easily.

#2: Choose Stocks that Might Improve Considering Government Changes – When you are thinking about getting into the stock market, take int consideration the things that are going on in the US government. Think about the bills that are being passed in the House and Senate.

#3: Build you as a brand online – With the job market still somewhat messy it is important to work on creating a brand for yourself. When you are searching for a job, you will be selling that brand to your potential employer.

#4: Put Cash Assets in Safer Accounts – If you are trying to figure out what to do with you cash that you have laying around in a savings account, not getting very much interest, think about putting it into a Certificate of Deposit.

#5: Lose the “Microwave” Mentality – When you think that you can get anything you want in an instant, that can cause problems. We need to realize that there are just some things you need to work for. Good credit and the things we buy are some of those things. No matter how much we might want something, you should always take into consideration if it is worth going into debt for. In most situations, it isn’t.

#6: Watch TV for Free Online – Instead of spending the extra money to pay for cable or direcTV and a DVR, watch your favorite shows online. Most popular shows are shown on the website for the station they air on and you only have to watch a minimal amount of commercials during the programming. Honestly, it’s just as good as having a TiVo but you don’t have to pay the extra money.

Stay tuned tomorrow to learn about Improving your life by improving your body.
