8 Superfoods for Weight Loss

As I’ve been working on my own weight loss goal I’ve started to think about how different foods can effect my weight loss goal. Sometimes it seems that I can work out as long at the gym as possible and work as hard as I can but I still don’t lose weight.

I’ve always known that what you eat is important but I never fully realized it until now. I found a great article on the Self! magazine website that has shed a little light on this subject for me and I would like to share it with you.

There are some foods that will actually help you lose weight. Obviously you still need to make sure you are eating them in moderation but if you keep track and eat the right things it will be easier to lose weight.

#1: Steak – In a study published by The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, women who were on a diet that included red meat actually lost more weight than those who didn’t include red meat in their diet. This is because the protein in steak helps you retain your muscle mass while losing weight.

#2: Eggs – Since eggs have more protein they will last you longer into the day and this will help you lose weight and keep it off.

#3: Kale – This vegetable has a strong taste by one cup of Kale only has 34 calories and includes much of your needed fiber, iron, and calcium. Spinach is another option if you can’t get over the taste of Kale.

#4: Oats – Oats have a lot of fiber in them so they will stick with you longer into the day if you eat them for breakfast. Steel-cut and rolled oats have the most fiber per serving but instant oats aren’t a bad choice either.

#5: Lentils – These little bean type things are high in protein and soluble fiber. This will help keep your blood sugar levels regular which prevents insulin spikes that could create excess fat.

#6: Goji Berries – These berries have a stronger ability to curb your hunger than any other fruit and they don’t have many calories per serving.

#7: Wild Salmon – The Omega-3 fatty acids help you to build muscle which in turn helps burn fat on your body.

#8: Apples – If you eat an apple, which is high in fiber, before you eat a meal that is high in carbohydrates you might find that you aren’t quite as hungry as you thought you were.
